The Courtyard shortlisted for climate award
Congratulations to The Courtyard in Hereford for being shortlisted in the climate category in the Cultural Health and Wellbeing Alliance Awards.
The Courtyard received a grant of £12,000 from our Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation earlier this year, to install more solar panels on the venue, enabling it to generate 20% of its energy onsite.
Clare Wichbold MBE, Fundraising Manager said “Our solar panels are fantastic, they are working really well and we are already making savings on our energy bills. We entered this year’s Cultural Health and Wellbeing Alliance Awards for our work around sustainability and have been shortlisted. The installation of the extra panels with Theatres Trust funding and the matched funding support from Herefordshire Council was part of the entry we submitted, so thank you for your support!”
Other ways that The Courtyard is leading the way in sustainability include changing how it deals with waste so nothing goes to landfill and partnering with a bike company to encourage cycling to the venue.
The Cultural Health and Wellbeing Alliance Awards winners will be announced on Friday 25 November.
