Eight theatres awarded funding to improve environmental sustainability
The latest round of the Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation has awarded a total of £120,000 grants to eight theatres on their journey to reducing the environmental impact of their buildings.
The successful theatres are:
- Dundee Repertory Theatre
- Oxford Playhouse
- The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford
- The Customs House, South Shields
- The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury
- The Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh
- Theatre Royal Winchester
- Wilton's Music Hall, London
Projects funded in this round include installing secondary glazing, fitting solar panels, replacing inefficient building management services and heating systems, and upgrading lighting to energy efficient LEDs.
They are examples of how small measures can collectively make a big impact in reducing a building’s carbon footprint.
The next round of the scheme is now open for applications with a deadline of noon on 6 September.
Thanks to the Wolfson Foundation for its ongoing support.
