Theatres Trust Christmas Appeal
Through our work we promote great theatre buildings by advising, funding and campaigning on behalf of theatres across the UK. Each year more than 350 theatres, community groups and industry professionals benefit from the Theatres Trust’s support.
We believe it’s not just about buildings though, it’s about people. Theatres are one of the few remaining places where people can come together, whether it is to see a live performance, visit with their schools, participate in a community group or simply to socialise. We know that theatres play a vital role in society and can provide a crucial hub for the communities in which they sit, more now than ever.
Last year over 5 million people attended theatres that the Theatres Trust helped, but we want to do so much more.
This is why this festive season we are asking for your support in the hope that we will raise £5,000 to help our work in ensuring that current and future generations have access to great theatres in their local communities.
Your support will enable us to:
- Provide further protection for the beautiful and historically significant buildings on our Theatres at Risk register by helping local volunteer-run groups save their theatres for their communities, whether this is through advice over the phone, a site visit with one of our Advisers or a longer-term viability report
- Offer specialist, tailored advice on the design, capital development and conservation of theatre buildings and respond to all theatre-related planning applications in England, Scotland and Wales so we have the right theatres in the right places that truly meet their communities’ needs
- Work with national and local government and funding bodies to make sure that theatres have the right policy and funding support to be resilient, thriving centres within their communities.
