We welcome ACE capital funding for theatres and arts centres
Arts Council England has today announced details of the successful applicants for Round 6 of its Small Capital grants scheme. 36 organisations have received awards totalling over £11million.
Of this, more than £3million has been awarded to theatres and arts centres for projects to improve buildings and equipment.
Our recent research, in conjunction with UK Theatre and SOLT, has demonstrated the need for on-going investment in theatre infrastructure with capital projects totalling more than £550million planned for the next five years.
Theatres Trust Director Jon Morgan says “Arts Councils are a vital part of the funding mix that theatres look to for their capital projects. We are therefore pleased that Arts Council England continues to invest in capital projects, which will increase the resilience of theatres and arts centres as well as opening up their work to wider audiences.
We hope that support for theatre infrastructure will continue to recognised across all of the UK’s local and national culture, planning and regeneration strategies”
