Nine theatres awarded funding to improve environmental sustainability
We are delighted to announce details of the projects funded through the latest round of the Theatre Improvement Scheme in partnership with the Wolfson Foundation.
We are awarding grants totalling £169,497 to nine theatres for vital environmental sustainability projects.
Five theatres will receive funding to upgrade their stage lighting to energy efficient LEDs:
- Broadway Theatre Catford in London
- Centre Stage in Kilmarnock
- The Courtyard Centre for the Arts in Hereford
- Sherman Theatre in Cardiff
- Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds
Three theatres will switch to LEDs and introduce timers, movement and light sensors in front and back of house areas:
- Derby Theatre
- New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich
- The Old Fire Station in Oxford
The final grant in this round goes to SPID Theatre in London for an innovative two-part project consisting of insulating windows and creating green walls.
