Chance to gain board-level experience at Theatres Trust

Theatres Trust is delighted to be a host organisation for the UK Boardroom Apprentice programme for a third year.

UK Boardroom Apprentice is a unique 12-month board learning, development and placement programme which enables those who would like to serve on a public or third sector board to learn and gain the experience that they need to take that step. It seeks to enable a wider diversity of people to serve on boards, allowing those without board experience to enhance their knowledge and understanding through in-depth learning and support.

Applications for the programme are open to people of all ages and all backgrounds and abilities, who have not held a board position on a public-sector body, or had experience on a private, voluntary, community or social enterprise board.

Theatres Trust Director Jon Morgan says “We have hosted two fantastic Boardroom Apprentices so far and it has been a great success, so we are pleased to be taking part again in 2025. It is a great opportunity for someone to gain board-level experience within a friendly and dynamic small organisation that ‘punches above its weight’. But just as importantly we want to learn by having people with different experiences and backgrounds joining us and feeding into our discussions and thinking.”

Dave Lamb, Theatres Trust’s 2024 Boardroom Apprentice says “I’ve absolutely loved my time as a Boardroom Apprentice and can’t believe it’s already drawing to a close. Personally, I feel that it’s given me a real understanding of what I bring to an organisation and really helped to confirm that I do want to serve as a trustee, in fact this week I applied to my first permanent board role.”
