Feasibility study outlines way forward for Doncaster Grand
The latest report on the Theatre at Risk has found that the building could partly re-open over the next few years once repair works are completed.
The consortium working to revive Doncaster Grand commissioned Page\Park Architects to produce a second phase of a viability study to produce a second phase of a viability study to look into the future of the theatre.
The report confirmed that it would be economically beneficial for the city to work towards re-opening the theatre but that urgent funding and repair works are needed first.
It concluded that a phased approach for reviving the theatre should be put in place, with funding helping the theatre re-open to small scale use first, such as business networking events, raising the profile of the building so it can attract higher levels of funding.
The full report can be read on the Doncaster Council website.
Theatres Trust is part of the consortium along with representatives from Doncaster Council, Friends of Doncaster Grand Theatre and the building owner, Frenchgate Limited Partnership. This report follows on from an initial viability study, which was funded through our Theatres at Risk Capacity Building Programme in 2021.
