Seats and balcony parts looking for a new home

Brighton & Hove Museums (Royal Pavilion & Museums Trust) is currently instigating a programme of rationalisation and has some seats and balcony fronts / parts available.

Some objects relating to the former Palace Pier Theatre have been identified for disposal on account of their condition and unlikely use in future activities. These include:

  • HAENT000147 - Half row of five seats [H15/f-h; H16/b-e; H17/a-e; H18/a-f]
  • HAENT000148 - Three balcony fronts [HA105907 - HA105909] and four balcony end parts [H19/a-d]

These were acquired from the Brighton Marine Palace and Pier Company (then operated by The Noble Organisation) shortly after demolition of the theatre in spring 1986.

The balcony fronts would need some work to make stable; they have slumped since their removal and have experienced some physical / water damage. The seats would probably need reupholstering, but they may be of interest to someone rather than them going to waste.
